This is actually a traditional rendition of KRAKONOS, a Czech folk art figure. KRAKONOS is the Father of the Woods and has mystical god like powers. The KRKONOSE mountains are some of the largest in the Czech Republic and the area is filled with tales of a mysterious man who cares for the nature of the mountains.

This folk art marionette has a classic skeleton of wood. His hands, face and feet are cast from a unique plaster like compound then beautifully hand painted. Notice the accessories and attention to detail - colorful pipe, leaves in his hair and beard, patchwork clothing and carved wooden shoes.
