This is actually a traditional rendition of Krkonos, a Czech folklore figure. Krkonos is the Father of the Woods and has mystical god-like powers. The Krkonos mountains are some the of largest in the Czech Republic and the area is filled with tales of a mysterious man who cares for the nature of the mountains.
This marionette is about 18 inches tall. It has a classic skeleton of wood. His hands, face and feet are sculpted from a unique plaster clay compound. Each marionette is a hand-made original. All clothes are likewise hand-made and designed after period models. He wears a tattered coat and smokes a pipe.
