In all his chivalric splendor, Don Quixote de La Mancha stands 17 inches tall. This is one of the most charming marionettes I have yet to discover. His eyes practically sparkle with pride and mis-spent heroism. The skeleton is hand carved wood. His head and hands are made of an unique plaster compund and have been sculpted with the utmost care and skill.
Made seperately by a master bell maker in Prague, Don Quixote?s faithful lance, his shield, his sword and his so-called helmet are all cast in a tin-brass alloy and designed after period models. The apparatus for bringing Don to life consists of a wooden handle, black cords connected to the joints of the marionette and a thin wire for support.
